Last year, Dencia released ‘Whitenicious’ for dark spot removal amidst a lot of controversy but the Cameroonian-Nigerian singer continues to stand by it. I wrote my confession on trying out skin lightening while younger, read here, and the reason was for even toned skin.

#MakeitStop - Lupita And Sesame Street's Elmo Talk About Loving The Skin You're In

Posted in: , ,

Lupita Nyong'o is back in the news again on the issue of her dark skin as she visits Sesame Street and chats with Elmo about the largest organ in the body. Lupita is always gorgeous and her skin is amazing, but I wonder how she feels about being made the unofficial ambassador of black/brown skinned people :)

And I can't help thinking of children who are born or have developed skin conditions that require treatment, how will they feel about all this beautiful skin love? Sometimes it's better to just stick to facts, I think.

Check out the video below...Youtube description;

Elmo is with his good friend, Lupita. They are talking about all the great things about their skin. For example, Elmo's skin just happens to be very ticklish. Lupita's skin happens to be a beautiful brown color. Skin can come in all different shades and colors. Isn't skin just the best? However, ticklish or smooth or black or brown or white or tan, be sure to love the skin you are in.

How To Choose the Best Eye Cream for Dark Circles Under Eyes

Posted in: , ,

If you have dark circles under the eyes that are caused by a lack of sleep, certain foods, allergies, or if you have very light skin, then the best under eye cream to choose is one that contains natural butter as the active ingredient. When applied topically, this ingredient constricts the blood vessels that lie under the thin skin under the eye and reduce the visibility of dark circles.

Another ingredient that you should look for in the best eye cream for dark circles is a brightening agent that can help you reduce the appearance of dark circles cosmetically.

Zendaya Insists She’s “Black Enough” For The Role of Aaliyah in Lifetime Movie

Posted in: , , , ,

Zendaya Coleman  is to star and perform as Aaliyah in the Lifetime Original Movie but not everyone is happy about that. I got to know Zendaya as a very talented young lady during the last season of Dancing With the Stars, and I feel she could do the job.

however, many have criticized the producers of the movie for casting Zendaya beacuse they feel she appears too mixed-race to play Aaliyah, others say she is too light-skinned, period. Zendaya has gone on Twitter to respond to such criticisms of the movie which is based on the book, Aaliyah: More Than a Woman.

The 17-year-old Disney actress has also answered in more detail in a video obtained by TMZ. She said, while bringing her father into the camera;

“A lot of people say I’m not Black enough. Half Black is just enough. It doesn’t matter what color you are, it’s about how you portray the character. For those that don’t know, Angela Bassett and Tina Turner, they look nothing alike but she was that character so I think that’s what it’s all about.”

Posted in: , , , , ,

I've been meaning to write this post for almost a month now, since the soaring popularity of Glathathione hit the news. Now I'm reading news that Dencia's whitenicious skin care line has just sold out within one day of being launched. It could be a marketing gimmick, but being here in Lagos, it's not hard to see that a lot of girls are actually crazy about lightening up their complexion.

What's Her Dark Skin Got To Do With It?

Posted in: , , ,

“Dark Girls,” is a documentary that explores the phenomenom of colorism among African-Americans. If I don't think Africans and African-Americans have the same degree of fixation about "good hair", when it comes to skin color, I doubt there's much of a difference. Nigeria has been noted as one of the countries with the highest incident of skin bleaching.
